Finally, I'm able to create my first post on my personal website!
I'm already thinking about creating a personal website using my domain from the beginning of the year, but I'm scared that it will break my first page ( https://muhamadarifadiputra.com ) since I didn't want the rank of the front page to be down. So I plan it from the start of the year carefully so there isn't any mistake or anything bad happen.
Well, the reality says otherwise. There is a lot of things that happened when moving this domain and got new hosting server:
- How long the transition process for the domain is something that I didn't expect. I thought the transfer of the domain will only take 1-2 days, how naive was me back then.
- I already expect the DNS record will be not moved but I didn't expect google already scan my web when it is down and make it not ranked for a few days.
- I want to merge my custom page with a normal environment in WordPress with all the settings available. It was a lot of work to make sure that this blog isn't scanned while the main page was still up and everything need to be working correctly.
There is a lot of things that happen but I am glad that I have already been able to merge all my old page to this new environment. So any personal links I created before still working today in a new environment.
That's all, actually. But I want to make this post have more content (so I have a sample public post to see everything working fine) so I will just post comics about my work in my current position in Tokopedia.
I think a lot of people didn't know very well what is the task that SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test) / SE EP (Software Engineer - Engineering Productivity) / Test Engineer do. Honestly, I didn't even know the exact thing I will do in my work but I think this meme represented some of the works that I do:
So basically we're testing well everything and making sure everything works. I think it is the most simple explanation I can give especially to non-tech people.
I also just found the original author of the image when writing this post and the drawing is really good and humor me in the middle of the night so here is another image that I am interested to comment:
To be honest, sometimes I also want to just merge all of the PR (Pull Review) and just call it a day. But eventually, it will haunt us back so it is always better to take time when doing code review. Otherwise, you will miss something and will make some mistakes.
Ah, I happen to also experience this. I have already made some changes but it isn't being pushed to a remote server. Sometimes I forgot I compile the old code. Ah~, the pain just came again.
Me: Yeah, 1 bug finished. (Pick new task), the new bug appeared, the finished bug needs to be tested again haha.
I can't stop smiling seeing this. Users have the same problem, there are too many tickets that I can't follow all, a lot of bugs are similar. Oh, I'm getting a flashback to testing again haha.
If you focus a little you can find 2 bugs hiding in this "minor change" haha
I just can't stop laughing. It's truly relatable haha.
Lastly, a comic that summarizes neatly about my work. Truly insightful for people who didn't know my task to understand it haha.
That's it. See you in the next post and I hope this post is useful for you (at least make you smile and have some insight about SDET/QA)!
